How often do I need to see my neurological physiotherapist?

Have you ever wondered how often you need to book an appointment with your neurological physiotherapist? Or why do you even need a review when you have seen one in the past and they have given you an exercise program?

A neurological condition is a condition that you have for the rest of your life.  It is a condition that is constantly exposed to changes.  It is important to be proactive in your management and to know when to see your neurological physio in order to ensure you are maximising your quality of life and getting the most out of your exercises.

A review can highlight any areas that may have declined since your last appointment. On the other hand, the review could also highlight areas of improvement in your condition.  This helps to reassure you and to keep you motivated to continue your exercise programme.  You may be completing your exercises and working through your therapy plan regularly, but not to the level that is fully optimising your potential.

If any of the following statements sound like you, then we recommend you contact your neurological physiotherapist to book in a review assessment:

-Has it been 6 months or more since you last saw your neurological physiotherapist?

-Has your neurological condition changed? Either Improved or Declined?

-Have you had a change in your medications for your neurological condition?

-Have you stopped completing your exercises or have they gotten too hard or too easy to complete?

-Have you had a change in your walking or have you had a fall recently?

Remember that exercise for neurological conditions should be a non-negotiable in your daily routine. Your exercise needs to be challenging otherwise you will see no change.
